COOH-PLGA(20k)-PEG(1k)-MAL is an maleimide-functionalized block copolymer with poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) as a hydrophobic block and PEG as a hydrophilic block. The terminal carboxyl can react with amine in the presence of activator, such as HATU or EDC, to form a stable amide linkage. The maleimide moiety can react with thiol (SH) at pH 6.5-7.5 via formation of thioether linkage. In aqueous media, the polymer can self-assemble to form micelles used to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs for controlled release drug delivery. Reagent grade, for research purpose.
