PLGA(20k)-PEG(2k)-FOL

PLGA(20k)-PEG(2k)-FOL

PLGA(20k)-PEG(2k)-FOL possesses two distinct block of polymers, i.e. hydrophobic poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) and hydrophilic PEG blocks. The folate group can strongly bind with folate receptor which is frequently overexpressed in a number of cancerous cells. This copolymer can be used for designing nanoparticles for targeted cancer therapy. Upon dispersion in water, the polymer self-assembles with the PLGA being shielded from water by the PEG. The PLGA core can be used to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs. On the other hand, the PEG shell not only provides protection against degradation but also enables a stealth behavior which is a prerequisite for successful in vivo translation of nanomedicine. Reagent grade, for research purpose.
