PLGA(2k)-PEG(5k)-IA is a thiol-reactive amphiphilic polymer. Upon dispersion, the hydrophobic poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) is shielded from the water by the PEG. The PLGA core regions can serve as reservoir for hydrophobic drugs in nanomicellar drug delivery formulation. The polymer is biodegradable which occurs by hydrolytic attack on the ester bonds.
