PLGA(2k)-PEG(5k)-MAL is a micelle-forming polymer for hydrophobic drug encapsulation in drug delivery system. The polymer has terminal maleimide which can react with thiol to form a stable thioether linkage. The poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) is biodegradable via hydrolytic attack on the ester bonds.
