PLGA(3k)-PEG(2k)-PLGA(3k) is an amphiphilic triblock copolymer with hydroxyl terminals which can be used for further derivatization. The polymer self-assembles in water which can be used to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs. The ester bonds from the poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) blocks can be cleaved via hydrolysis.
