MPEG(5k)-PBCL(3720) is a linear amphiphilic block copolymer comprised of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and poly(α-benzyl carboxylate-ε-caprolactone) (PBCL). The hydrophilic PEG increases solubility in aqueous media. The PBCL is a hydrophobic unit, which has a benzyl group that can be removed through hydrogenation to leave a carboxylic acid functional group. The block copolymer can be used in preparation of micelles or nanoparticles for drug encapsulation and drug delivery.
