pAsp(3k)-PEG(5k)-Azide is a linear amphiphilic block copolymer comprised of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and poly(L-Aspartic acid) (pAsp). The hydrophilic PEG increases solubility in aqueous media upon dispersion in water. The polymer self-assembles to form micelles with pAsp core and PEG shell. The core can be used as reservoir for hydrophobic drugs while the shell can provide protection from degradation (enzymatic/hydrolysis). The terminal azide can undergo copper-catalyzed Click Chemistry reactions with alkynes, DBCO and BCN.
