The BOC (tert-butyloxycarbonyl) protecting group is the most common amine protecting group in non-peptide chemistry. The BOC protected amine can be useful in the design of the synthetic strategy to avoid unwanted side reaction. The BOC protecting group can be removed (hydrolyzed) under acidic condition using concentrated TFA or HCl to yield a free amine.
