PLLA(20k)-PEG(5k)-FOL is a block amphiphilic polymer with folate moiety which can bind to specific receptor on the surface of a broad spectrum of solid tumor cells. The polymer can be used to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs (nanocarriers). Scientists have shown promising results in mediating (site specific) uptake of various drugs by targeting the folate receptor.
