DSPE-PEG-alkyne, MW 2,000 is a lipid PEG with a hydrophilic phosphate head with hydrophobic lipid tails. The molecule can self-assemble in water to form lipid bilayer with hydrophobic tails facing the inner area and hydrophilic head facing outward interacting with water. The compound can be used to prepare nanoparticles or liposomes as drug nanocarriers to deliver therapeutics, such as mRNA/DNA vaccine.
