N-(t-butyl ester-PEG3)-N-bis(PEG3-Mal) is a branched conjugation reagent with a terminal t-butyl group and a terminal pair of maleimide groups. The maleimide group will react with a thiol group to form a covalent bond. The t-butyl group can be deprotected under acidic conditions. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases the hydrophilic properties of the compound.
