Asialo GM1 ganglioside, a lipid raft component, is formed by neuraminidase-mediated cleavage of sialic acid from ganglioside GM1. It acts as a glycolipid receptor for P. aeruginosa flagellin, triggering host defense responses such as ATP release, calcium mobilization, and ERK1/2 phosphorylation. In RSV-infected mice, ganglioside GM1 asialo-positive NK and CD8+ T cells increase in the lung, and their depletion reduces IFN-γ levels, mitigates weight loss, and raises lung viral load. The mixture contains molecular species with C18:1 and C20:1 sphingoid backbones. Reagent grade, for research purpose.
