Didanosine is an anti-retroviral drug used in the treatment of HIV in ART therapy, it also may increase acetaminophen related hepatotoxicity by enhancing mitochrondrial dysfunction. 2',3'-Dideoxyinosine has also been shown to inhibit the replication of other viruses such as herpes simplex virus type 1 and hepatitis B virus.
